TASTING NOTES

Aromas

Notes of lilac, nutmeg, and blueberry compote on the nose are bright and effusive

Flavors

Rich notes of plum, thyme, and white pepper

Finish

Fine grained and well-integrated tannins make this a silky wine with depth and length

WINEMAKING

The Fruit

Hand sorted and destemmed

The Juice

Fermentation was achieved using native yeast with low fermentation temperatures giving soft phenolics and fresh aromatics

The Wine

After total fermentation time of 12 days, the wines were racked to 40% new French oak barrels and aged for 16 months

VINEYARD SOURCE

Situated high on the western slopes of the Salinas Valley, facing east, the vineyard enjoys a long cool growing season marked by foggy mornings and sunny afternoons that are tempereed by strong winds that cool the grapes

Soil type - Arroyo Seco gravely loam - free draining loam comprised of granitic gravels and decomposed granite fine material
